olivar y Inteligencia Artificial

PROYECTO LIFE ALS.

We start using recyclable and biodegradable pallets !!

recycable biopallets

We are pleased to inform you that we have started to use fully recyclable and ecological pallets.  If they are six months outdoor without caring, they will become topsoil!! The use of these pallets will help us to reduce our carbon footprint 🙂

EVOO_AOVE_Biopallet_CastillodeCanena

They are manufactured by the company from Jaén BIOPALET with which we have been working for months to test their prototypes.

Other advantages include that is made of a biodegradable material, weighs 30 kg less than a wooden pallet, has no points or chips and has great resistance!

Among other measures of our commitment to the environment, we have a compost production plant that reuses our own olive waste and residue. Additionally, since 2007 we have three photovoltaic energy plants of 100 Kw each to supply our own electricity for the estate. Lastly, there are nine precision farming weather stations to monitor the variations in tree trunk diameter, climate and soil conditions, and area humidity in order to maximise the water resources available to water our trees.

“Earth for the Earth”, we are Socially Responsible

project Earth for the Earth

As a Socially Responsible company, Castillo de Canena is identified with sustainable agriculture. Sustainability is one of our top priorities and extends beyond our own crops.

Sustainable_Farming_water_Turkana_Castillo_Canena

Proof of this, it’s our partnership with the project “Earth for the Earth” . Through this project, we make a donation for each bottle of our Biodynamic EVOO sold to the Missionary Community of Saint Paul The Apostle (Fundación Emalaikat).

The purpose of this donation is related to what we love the most and that gives name to this project: the soil, the earth.

Specifically through this donation we contribute with the agricultural development in
Turkana_Castillo_Canena_Biodinámico (4)one of the poorest areas of the world: Lake Turkana (Kenya), through the Missionary Community of Saint Paul The Apostle. Actions such as the education of farmers on the rational use of water resources and sustainable environmental management systems are crucial for  thedevelopment of this region. Also, financing training of natives at universities specialized in cultivation of desert areas with water scarcity and for the sustainability and agricultural development in the area. Likewise, another action that is very important: contributing to the construction of water dams that improve access to this scarce resource for the people who live there and for their herds; dams are their guarantee of food security.

We emphasize the importance of such initiatives, which are crucial to the development of some regions of our planet called Earth.
